Reimagining Spaces – Soap Lake
Situated on Main Street in the heart of downtown, the Soap Lake Library provides convenient access to programs for adults and children, as well as a robust collection of physical materials. Local staff curate resources that serve the local Russian and Ukranian populations, as well as materials that preserve local history.
The mid-century modern design of the building provides an open and accessible feel despite a smaller building size. The NCW Libraries Reimagining Spaces Project will be the first major refresh to the building since its construction in 1968.
Improvements may include upgrades:
- New flooring and paint throughout
- Improved service point
- Updated shelving and furniture
- Improved lighting and signage
UPDATE! After a few months of design review, Our Soap Lake plans are in the final stages of completion. We hope to be ready to begin the refresh in early 2025. The new library layout will provide new comfortable seating and a small meeting room reservable for the public. The top chosen design direction of “Retreat” features subtle earth tones that will be reflected in new paint, flooring and furniture fabrics. Stay tuned as we prepare to commence this project!
